The Lyrics

I've never really been a part of the Aristry competition before...and ten rounds in, it is proving to be more difficult than I thought! Original Song
New round
So I’ll sit right down
I’ll give it a whirl
But I’m in a drought

It’s hard
To keep things brand new
I stare at the screen
I don’t know what to do

Round ten
Why, Adele, why?
Ain't like Cure few rounds back
H-er music-I actu’lly like

I want to write one that will leave folks so delighted
But I couldn't pick a theme, get me excited
I thought and thought for days, but no spark got ignited
Should I leave? I think it’s over...

Still I try to write silly lampoons
Search recordings of her songs on YouTube
“Roll in the Deep”? That’s hack...
“I set fi-re”...that’s sad
“Someone Like You” - the song
That I’d rather spoof instead
Try to write laughs, so tough
Man, this round, it hurts my head
Ughh

Although I add nice rhymes
Still I write away with no story in mind
Maybe autumn praise
Or a zombie craze
“I’m in love with french fries”
Nah, that’d be too lame!

Almost halfway done and with no clue what I’m writing
I could make fun of Green Day, from “Chasing Pavements”?
Or maybe ‘bout some guy on his thirteenth engagement
Too silly. That won’t go over...

Still I try to write simple lampoons
Which old cartoon was the best? That’s old too!
“Rumor Has It”, is best
But the Conqu’or called “dibs”
Sometimes it helps to rush
and write out your songs ahead...

Fell down the stairs
Brown or grizzly bears
A dozen milkshakes
As parodies? Lame!
I’m almost done
But not funny
It’s not great...

Man I tried to write silly lampoons
No recording will get made of this spoof
For the next round, I beg
A song I wrote ahead
It’s not that bad, it’s rough
But other I wrote, I dread...

So keep this in mind when you lampoon
Not as easy as you think, and here’s proof!
Don’t low score me, I beg
Give me the bronze, instead!
Many more rounds to go
Hopefully I’ll reach the end!

Many more rounds to go
I’d better get way ahead...
NOTE: I'm aware that multiple writers can parody the same song in a round...I just thought it'd be funny to get TCOP a mention in there.
NOTE Pt. 2: The "man in his thirteenth engagement" idea was my original idea I was going to go with (set to "Chasing Pavements").

We all deal with these kind of things, I'm still trying to break out of it.

(Artistry) You definitely hit on something we all can relate to as writers and that's what made it funny. The self-awareness of this parody made me laugh a lot, more so that the actually lyrics themselves. Isn't it funny though how we get round after round of artists we don't really care for and get the best idea ever, but when one that we do like comes up we have the hardest time coming up wit anything! The irony is not lost on me. Solid spoof for not having a "real" idea.
