Crosby, Stills, and Nash's, "Southern Cross"
The Lyrics:
And the downhill run
To Papeete.
Off the wind on this heading
Lie the Marquesas.
Why:
Papeete, located on Tahiti, is the capital of French Polynesia. Marquesas is the name of a group of islands located elsewhere in French Polynesia. The name Marquesas also applies to a key in the U.S. State of Florida. Probably the reference to Papeete means that the Marquesas in French Polynesia is the one meant in the song. If the song's title refers to the constellation Crux (a.k.a. "Southern Cross"), some might infer from that that the reference must be to the Marquesas in the southern hemisphere. But in fact the Southern Cross is at times visible from anywhere south of 25 degrees north latitude, making it sometimes seen from either Marquesas.
