Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> The Wiggles

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

The Wiggles', "Captain Feathersword"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Stomp the hawk
It's fun to do.
The Real Lyrics:
Start to hop
It's fun to do.
The Story: The Wiggles are a happy band, so I had a hard time figuring out why they'd want to be stomping a hawk and saying it was fun to do. It just didn't seem very Wiggly to me. - Submitted by: Squooshy
The Wiggles', "Eagle Rock"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I'm just crazy about the waiting room.
The Real Lyrics:
I'm just crazy about the way we move.
The Story: Jacob is 3 years old. He got very excited when his mother told him he had to wait in a waiting room. He said 'I'm just crazy about the waiting room!' and after some interrogation it was revealed that due to this song, he thought waiting rooms were really cool places :) - Submitted by: Jacob Israeli
The Wiggles', "Fruit Salad"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Wash the bones, and wash the spoon.
The Real Lyrics:
Wash the bowl, and wash the spoon.
The Story: My sister and I were in the car with her 3 year old and her 1 year old and we were listening to this tape. Well, the babies were; we were talking about something else. And all of a sudden, she stops mid sentence and asks, 'Did they just say, 'wash the bones'?' I hadn't heard it at all and so I rewound it. And of course it was 'wash the bowl'. She almost had to pull off the road; we were both laughing so hard. - Submitted by: Carolee
The Wiggles', "Play The Guitar With Murray (Live Version)"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Though he stinks of gin.
The Real Lyrics:
No, his name's not Jim.
The Story: I had to mute the TV and read the lyrics to this one on closed captioning to make sure my lyrics weren't the right ones. I kind of figured that a children's group wouldn't be singing about stinking of gin, though. - Submitted by: Dean
The Wiggles', "The Friendly Pirate Ship"
The Misheard Lyrics:
The friendly pirate ship is f***ing on the sea.
The Real Lyrics:
The friendly pirate ship is rocking on the sea.
The Story: After a thousand times of watching this clip my son adores, this still sounds too much like my version than the supposed one. When the pirate crew men sing, I can't help but hear this line. - Submitted by: Zadzial
