Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> The Flintstones

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

The Flintstones', "Car Hop Song (Burger on a Bun)"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Here we come on the run
With a burger on a bun
And a bottle of Coke on the side.
The Real Lyrics:
Here we come on the run
With a burger on a bun
And a dab of cole slaw on the side.
The Story: I was probably about 8, and have been singing it to myself ever since with the "bottle of Coke" lyric. Thanks for the clarification. Though I probably hoped that if the Flintstones could drink Coke my mother would let me have one too. - Submitted by: Page Burkholder

Lets ride with the family down the street
Rudolph find a place to rest your feet
The Real Lyrics:
Lets ride with the family down the street
Through the courtesy of Fred's two feet
The Story: This is always what I thought it was back in the 70s. - Submitted by: Larry

Someday, maybe Fred will win the fight
Then that cat will stay out for the night
