Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Snow

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

12 Inches Of Snow album at Amazon.com
Snow's, "Informer"
The Misheard Lyrics:
A leaky bum in the air
The Real Lyrics:
A licky boom boom down
The Story: Lyrics are generally incomprehensible but this is one of the few lines that can more or less be deciphered albeit inaccurately. Puzzled as to how the artist manages to pronounce the word "down" in a manner that sounds more like "air" but it is so. - Submitted by: Tony Hamilton

I'm lick your boom boom now
(Song has a Jewish context)
The Real Lyrics:
Informer, you no say
Daddy me
Snow me
I'll go blame
A licky Boom Boom Down.
The Story: It's only the rap towards the end, with coherent words that I could even identify this song, heard in a store while shopping. I stopped to listen. Police. Telephone. Snowman. Without those words, this song would be a mystery for another 20 years. - Submitted by: Rizz

The Real Lyrics:
A licky boom-boom-down.

Snow's, "Informer"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I lick yo bum bum now
The Real Lyrics:
I licky boom boom dem
The Story: I have always thought that this part of the song said "I lick your bum bum now" since I was a child growing up in the late '90s/early 2000s. I always thought it was hilarious and I still honestly do years later, lol it is a great laugh. Just recently I heard it again on the radio after all this time and it brought back funny memories. I like to imagine that's what he's really saying when I listen to the song :p - Submitted by: Madi

Rice farmer, you gonna stone me that's who I'm gonna blame
'cos I licked your boom boom down
The Real Lyrics:
Informer, you no say that's who I'm gonna blame

The Story: We were listening to this one night, because... well, yeah. And those lyrics sounded might awkward. Now that we looked them up, they are more gibberish than awkward. Personally, the awkward lyrics are funnier to recite. Who wouldn't want to go to school and tell people "I licked your boom boom down"? - Submitted by: Ehab and Bryan
