Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Sepultura

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Against album at
Sepultura's, "Amen"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Eat your neighbor's dog.
The Real Lyrics:
In the name of God
The Story: My boyfriend and I were listening to the "Chaos A.D." album while playing a video game one night, and this song came on. When the line, 'In the name of God' came up, my boyfriend looked over at the speakers and said, 'Eat your neighbors dog??!!!' I was barely able to correct him through the fits of laughter. - Submitted by: owlwatcher_974
Sepultura's, "Dead Embryonic Cells"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Die f**king all our genes
The Real Lyrics:
Die by technology
The Story: I just heard a cassette copy of the song and never read the lyrics. - Submitted by: Mikko Rantanen
Sepultura's, "Territory"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Please eat your spinach.
The Real Lyrics:
Dictators' speech
The Story: When I first heard "Territory", I was reading along with the lyrics. So I had no trouble understanding what Max Cavalera was saying. But when my boyfriend heard the song, he mentioned that it sounded like Max was singing, "Please eat your spinach". Ever since that night, whenever I listen to the song, I always hear, "Please eat your spinach" instead of "Dictator's speech". - Submitted by: Mary Valley
