Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Semisonic

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Semisonic album at Amazon.com
Semisonic's, "Closing Time"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Every new beginning comes from summer, fall and winter's end
The Real Lyrics:
Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end
The Story: It sure sounded like summer! But we all should know it was about a last call at a bar. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
Semisonic's, "Closing Time"
The Misheard Lyrics:
One less call for alcohol
So vanish your whiskey or beer
The Real Lyrics:
One last call for alcohol
So finish your whiskey or beer
The Story: I used to think that that's what the lead singer was saying, but figured this out that this was the actual lyrics, and now it makes sense since the song was about a "last call" for a bar. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
