Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> RuPaul

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

RuPaul's, "Queer Duck theme song"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Clear duck, he's somewhat sexual
The Real Lyrics:
Queer Duck, he's homosexual
The Story: Even though this is a short-lived "adult" animated series, it's somewhat "clear" that those who did see it misheard it as "clear duck". - Submitted by: Cody Finke
RuPaul's, "Supermodel"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Once upon a time, there was a little black girl
In the brust of projects of Detroit, Mexico
The Real Lyrics:
Once upon a time, there was a little black girl
In the Brewster projects of Detroit, Michigan
The Story: I looked up the lyrics to this song on songlyrics.com and was confronted with this remarkable misheard intro. It's bad enough to mistake "Brewster" for "brust of", but "Detroit, Mexico"? That goes above and beyond simply "mishearing" and into the realm of extreme "duh." - Submitted by: Porfle Popnecker
RuPaul's, "Supermodel"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Wet your lips and make love to the gambler.
The Real Lyrics:
Wet your lips and make love to the camera.
The Story: I just learned, after 10 years, that I was hearing this lyric wrong. If Taylor Dayne hadn't covered this song recently for the 'Lizzie McGuire Movie' and changed the lyric to 'smile to the camera' (to make the song a bit more kid-friendly, I guess) I probably would never have figured it out. - Submitted by: Frann
