Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Rascal Flatts

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Feels Like Today album at Amazon.com
Rascal Flatts', "Bless the Broken Road"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I fell out of an aero-plane twenty years ago.
The Real Lyrics:
I set out on a narrow way many years ago.
The Story: People at work listen to music real low, and even though I know the lyrics, this is what I always hear when this song plays. - Submitted by: Ian
Rascal Flatts', "These Days"
The Misheard Lyrics:
I put on that old song we danced to in Maine.
The Real Lyrics:
I put on that old song we danced to and then.
The Story: I have always loved the song 'I'm Moving On' by Rascal Flatts. One day Rascal Flatts new song 'These Days' came on the radio and I asked my co-worker Martin to turn it up for me. I began to sing out loud, but when I sang the part 'I put on that old song we danced to in Maine' they laughed at me and told me that that was not what they were singing. I still like my version better...it could have been very romantic in Maine. - Submitted by: Jill
Rascal Flatts', "What Hurts the Most"
The Misheard Lyrics:
That don't butter me
The Real Lyrics:
That don't bother me
The Story: I was hearing "butter" when they said "bother". The same was that way in the song "Shape of My Heart" by the Backstreet Boys. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
