Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Mark Morrison

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Mark Morrison's, "Return Of The Mack"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Lolanda May
The Real Lyrics:
You lied to me.
The Story: My friend Chantelle and I were talking about songs that we didn't know the lyrics to. We cracked up when we thought that he was talking about a girl named 'Lolanda May'. I guess we were wrong. - Submitted by: Melissa
Mark Morrison's, "Return Of The Mack"
The Misheard Lyrics:
The Taco Man
The Real Lyrics:
Return of the Mack
The Story: That's what I get for hearing this song, when it's late, I'm drunk, and have just seen a flash movie where a "Taco Man" is mentioned. - Submitted by: Mjn Seifer
Mark Morrison's, "Return Of the Mack"
The Misheard Lyrics:
So, baby, listen carefully
While I slip my contacts on
The Real Lyrics:
So, baby, listen carefully
While I sing my come-back song
The Story: I only learned what the real lyrics were tonight, I figured he was going out clubbing and "Macking," so he was saying he would put his contacts in to project a better appearance, hence garnering more hookups. Basically he was saying, "look out." - Submitted by: Brad
Mark Morrison's, "Return of the Mack"
The Misheard Lyrics:
We're tearing up the bed
The Real Lyrics:
Return of The Mack
The Story: This song came out when I was 8, and I remember hearing it on the radio thinking it was a song about sex, and have thought that for the past 21 years until I finally googled the lyrics last week. They were nothing like I thought they were. - Submitted by: Nora Smith
Mark Morrison's, "Return of the Mack"
The Misheard Lyrics:
You turn up to me
The Real Lyrics:
Return of the Mack
The Story: I've heard this song for the first time when I was 15 and since English isn't my native tongue and hood-slang definitely isn't, it didn't seem like an all that weird of a line. It was not until five years or so later and a few pretty weirdly-piercing glances from a friend when I've heard the song in his car, that I've realized the words coming out of my mouth contribute more to my declining social stature than to reproducing Mark Morrison's hit. - Submitted by: LA
