Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Lou Reed

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Berlin album at
Lou Reed's, "Lady Day"
The Misheard Lyrics:
She had to go insane, it had to be that way
The Real Lyrics:
She had to go in and sing, it had to be that way
The Story: Considering the "Berlin" album, my lyric is just as appropriate. - Submitted by: Wayne Olsen
Lou Reed's, "Sweet Jane"
The Misheard Lyrics:
C. J.!
The Real Lyrics:
Sweet Jane
The Story: I heard this on the Bob Harris show on BBC 6 Music and started thinking about 'The Fall & Rise Of Reginald Perrin'. As Reggie's boss in the series was called C. J. It's not the first time a Leonard Rossiter series comes to mind with a song because 'Vienna' by Ultravox made me think of Rigsby's cat of that name in 'Rising Damp'! - Submitted by: pickle*
