Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Hayley Westenra

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Hayley Westenra album at
Hayley Westenra's, "Across A Universe of Time"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Show me your vision of Sunny Delite
The Real Lyrics:
Show me your vision, the story begun
The Story: Yes, I'm sure this sounds like a stretch to anyone who has never heard Westenra's recording of this song. I love her voice and I like that song, but either I'm going deaf, or she needs to work harder on her enunciation. I finally figured out the lyrics by going to youtube and READING HER LIPS. - Submitted by: Mary Taggart
Hayley Westenra's, "Wuthering Heights"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Wolverine, wolverine, wolverine eyes, keep clear.
The Real Lyrics:
Wuthering, wuthering, wuthering heights, Heathcliffe.
The Story: Got the CD burned from a friend. Then my aunt bought me the CD because she didn't know I had it. Then, I had the booklet with the lyrics in it. Until then, I had no idea it wasn't about the college mascot of the University of Mighigan. - Submitted by: awesomeness
