Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Funeral Oration

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

The Misheard Lyrics:
Who needs the fans of Marilyn Manson
The Real Lyrics:
Truly intensive, madly immensive
The Story: I got Funeral Oration's Double disc discography a week before I left to tour with a band in January of 2000. I never got a chance to look at the track listing for the cd, instead just put it in a cd wallet to listen to on tour. The 4th track on the first disc is 'Truly Intensive' and of course, I didn't know what the song was called. Funeral Oration is from Holland, so the lead singer sings with a rather thick accent. I thought he was saying 'Who needs the fans of Marilyn Manson' when in actuality he was saying 'Truly Intensive, Madly Immensive.' It seemed to make sense that he wouldn't 'need the fans of Marilyn Manson', because he's the lead singer for a Dutch punk rock group. God, I'm a moron. - Submitted by: Chris Prince
