Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Flyleaf

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Flyleaf album at Amazon.com
Flyleaf's, "All Around Me"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Thicker than the air I'm breathing
The Real Lyrics:
Thickening the air I'm breathing
The Story: I wondered which was correct. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
Flyleaf's, "Breathe Today"
The Misheard Lyrics:
So mending, nice wedding,
Illusions
You're suffocating
B-M-D, CPU
The Real Lyrics:
So many lies swirling
Around you
You're suffocating
The empty shape in you
The Story: I remember listening to it a month ago and wondering what on earth the singer was going on about - especially what a CPU (computer processor) had to do with anything. I checked the lyrics at that point, got the correct ones, and promptly forgot about it - and then heard the song again today and had to look it up all over again. - Submitted by: '86
Flyleaf's, "I Can Feel You"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Holding onto what I'm feeling
Saving me from my hyper feeling.
The Real Lyrics:
Holding onto what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing.
The Story: I loved the song until I heard that part and thought it was so stupid but listened to it anyway for the next 2 yrs. Until the acoustic version came out and I could understand her. - Submitted by: Jessie
Flyleaf's, "Set Me on Fire"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Thinking of losing you is a hundred
Song and a trend much worse than the fear at best
The Real Lyrics:
Thinking of losing you is a haunted song
And a dread much worse than the fear of death
The Story: I simply heard it that way! It didn't make sense at all to me, so I had to wait until the band put up the lyrics to find out what was going on. - Submitted by: Britt
Flyleaf's, "So I Thought"
The Misheard Lyrics:
The times were right
And I couldn't talk about it
The Real Lyrics:
The times weren't right
And I couldn't talk about it
The Story: I . - Submitted by: Alex
