Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Earth, Wind, & Fire

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Illumination album at Amazon.com
Earth, Wind, & Fire's, "Boogie Wonderland"
The Misheard Lyrics:
A woman who has way too many men.
or
A woman who has made too many plans.
The Real Lyrics:
A woman who has laid too many bets.
The Story: All I heard of this song was hearing Pink Lady sing it in the 'Pink Lady & Jeff' DVD set. Needless to say, it was tough figuring out what they were singing. I had to look up the lyrics online to see what those words were, and who originally sang it. - Submitted by: Sammy Reed
Earth, Wind, & Fire's, "Let's Groove Tonight"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Let this frog sing in the show.
The Real Lyrics:
Let this groove, set in your shoes.
The Story: I called the radio station to try to find out the actual name of the song, told them the approximate time I heard the song, and tried to sing it. They thought I was from another planet! - Submitted by: Alan Ross
