Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Derek and the Dominos

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

The Misheard Lyrics:
Do you want to see me cry a faucet for you?
The Real Lyrics:
Do you want to see me crawl across the floor for you?
The Story: I swear to God this is true..I'm 60 years old and this has always been one of my favorite songs and I ALWAYS thought it was cry a faucet for you until just a few years ago when my son, who's in his 20s laughed his butt off, corrected me and then told everyone! My family periodically calls me cry a faucet... - Submitted by: Lisa
The Misheard Lyrics:
Darling....won't you ease my hooded man.
The Real Lyrics:
Darling... won't you ease my worried mind.
The Story: Im still not convinced that he actually says the published version. (I'm stubborn) Husband finds this most amusing. You've got me on my knees, Layla. Begging darling please, Layla. He wants something physical! - Submitted by: Steph Longhurst
The Misheard Lyrics:
Layla, he got your money.
The Real Lyrics:
Layla, you've got me on my knees.
The Story: Originally, Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon wrote this song as "you've got me on my knees". But, I feel misheard with this lyrics. Because, sung as "he got your money". I imagine when a man named Michael W. Smith from the main city who got the money of a woman named Michelle Branch from another city in a transport vehicle were stopped at the location of the traffic. They were both with the initial "M" and they both ride on the shuttle since many years ago even though their purpose is different. - Submitted by: Wisnu Aji
The Misheard Lyrics:
The Real Lyrics:
The Story: I kept thinking it was a reference to Waylon Jennings. - Submitted by: Cody Finke
