Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Del Amitri

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

The Story: We used to always sing this song on road trips to and from college. And our friend Shari, one day, happened to be singing louder than the rest of us. That's when we caught her. 'What did you just sing?' 'The Wrong Amoeba,' she answered. 'Shari, you know the song is called Roll To Me, why the h*** would you say 'amoeba', and what the hell does that even mean??' The best we could get out of her, 'Uhh, I dunno.' - Submitted by: Jason Karkut

The Story: A co-worker told me a long story about this song 'the right time, the wrong me.' I just figured that was the lyric. When I found out the right lyric, I was disappointed: the mis-hear is actually more insightful than the right one. Oh well! - Submitted by: Becky
