Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Credence Clearwater Revival

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Credence Clearwater Revival's, "Bad Moon on the Rise"
The Misheard Lyrics:
There is a bathroom on the right.
The Real Lyrics:
There is a bad moon on the rise.
The Story: My wife and I were driving and this song came on the radio and she started singing and when the chorus came, that's what she sang.... I was like... ummmm... it's Bad Moon On The Rise not bathroom on the right. Lol - Submitted by: Alan Paul
The Misheard Lyrics:
Oh, Lord, stuck in a low diaphragm.
The Real Lyrics:
Oh, Lord, stuck in Lodi again.
The Story: My son was singin' along and I never knew the correct lyrics either until I asked a friend. When he sang 'low diaphragm' I cracked up and assured that I didn't think that's what John Fogarty was saying. - Submitted by: Janice
