Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Bobby Sherman

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Bobby Sherman - Greatest Hits album at
Bobby Sherman's, "Julie Do you love me"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Scooby Scooby Scooby do you love me
Scooby Scooby Scooby do you care,
Scooby Scooby are you thinking of me,
Scooby scooby will you still be there.
The Real Lyrics:
Julie Julie Julie do you love me
Julie Julie Julie do you care,
Julie Julie are you thinking of me,
Julie Julie will you still be there.
The Story: I was younger and this song was on the radio and then I wondered why he would be singing about a dog in a cartoon (Scooby Doo), even my parents said that it wasn't about Scooby. - Submitted by: Nathaniel
Bobby Sherman's, "The Drum"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Love comes, beats on drums, and then it honks a ride
The Real Lyrics:
Love comes, beats on drums, and then your hopes arise
The Story: Since the lyrics Sherman was singing were for the most part rather meaningless, I figured 'honks a ride' made just as much sense as the rest of it. (The term meant, I guess, that a driver will honk at a pedestrian, offering him/ her a lift.) But years later, when I listened more carefully to the lyrics, I realized I had been wrong, no matter how attractive my interpretation of the lyrics might have been. - Submitted by: Doug Montgomery
