Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Arjan Brass

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Arjan Brass', "Leonie"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Leonny, Leonny.
I dream my life away.
Make believe you're still around.
In dreams of yesterday.
Leonny, I will the days that I spent with you.
The Real Lyrics:
Leonie, Leonie.
I dream my life away.
Make believe you're still around.
In dreams of yesterday.
Leonie, I recall the days I spent with you.
The Story: Originally, I posting "It's Alright, It's OK" by Ashley Tisdale (Ashley now here at a day and not giving to "Goodbye to You" by Michelle Branch), "Ready or Not" by Bridgit Mendler, and "Until It Sleeps" by Metallica (sounding like "anti-asleep" instead of "until it sleeps"). But, because I hear Arjan's music for the first time since Arjan passed away on 28 December 2007, I posting "Leonie" here. First, I think, "Leonie" would be a song by Lionel Richie when I hear this song for the first time since more than 4 years ago in my memory. But, "Leonie" was not Lionel, it's just Arjan who singing this song. Second, I think, it titled "Leonny" when I think it's still a song by Lionel Richie before I found the correct title and artist name. Finally, after I'll search this song in Google by using a line of this song, it's "Leonie" instead of "Leonny" and once again it's Arjan who singing this song. Third, because I love all rock and pop songs of all time from around the world, like each other songs, I'm growing up by adding the English second-person pronoun that used in many songs. About this song: Before this song was published in 1976, Arjan was born in the middle of 1951 in his native country, the Netherlands (where it also Golden Earring's native country that make many songs success in their native country rather than internationally). Arjan's best-known song was "Leonie", published on 4 December 1976. Although "Leonie" failed to reaching the highest position on Billboard's Pop Chart, it make impact from the Netherlands radio stations at the time and reaching the Top 20 on the Netherlands chart. Making him his only major hit to date. Arjan was passed away on 28 December 2007. RIP Arjan. Maybe, I can still hear his music while he was now passed away leaving me and my friends. Thanks Arjan for his music. - Submitted by: Wisnu Aji
