Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Anne Murray and Michael Bublé

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Anne Murray and Michael Bublé's, "Baby, It's Cold Outside"
The Misheard Lyrics:
[Anne:] This welcome has been -
[Michael:] I'm lucky that you dropped in.
[Anne:] - So nice and warm,
[Michael:] Ooh, cock a window [Anne:] at that storm.
The Real Lyrics:
[Anne:] This welcome has been -
[Michael:] I'm lucky that you dropped in.
[Anne:] - So nice and warm,
[Michael:] Look out the window [Anne:] at that storm.
The Story: I first heard this as quoted above in the misheard lyrics. I had no idea what else Michael could be singing that sounded like "Ooh, cock a window", until I checked a lyrics site and found out that he draws out the "look" to sound very much like "ooh -k". Then the "k" at the end of "look" combines with a rather mumbled "out" to sound a whole like "cock". Until I thus learned the real lyrics, I wondered why the heck he'd say "Ooh, cock a window" considering that the song is about frigid weather outside. Did somebody fart, I was wondering? - Submitted by: Kris Kringle Aguilera
