Misheard Lyrics -> Song -> W -> Winter in America

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. This page contains all the misheard lyrics for Winter in America that have been submitted to this site and the old collection from inthe80s started in 1996. Doug Ashdown's, "Winter in America"
Misheard Lyrics:
The harbour's misty in the morning glow
Oh Howard missed December
The friendship penny opens up to kiss the salty air
Original Lyrics:
The harbour's misty in the morning love
Oh how I miss December
The Frangipani opens up to kiss the salty air
I must admit had no idea what a frangipani was when I first heard this song. I presume it's something to do with spring time and a possible romance. Some original LP releases (including compilations) have this titled as "Winter in America (Leave Love Enough Alone)".
