Misheard Song Lyrics -> Artist -> V -> Van Zant

Misheard song lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. This page contains all the misheard lyrics for Van Zant that have been submitted to this site and the old collection from inthe80s started in 1996. "2+2"
Misheard Lyrics:
You keep subtracting the time you should be mine
And that can't solve my problem.
No matter how much I ask,
It just keeps driving me mad,
I get no closer to that 'unintelligible'.
Original Lyrics:
You keep subtracting the time you should be mine
And that can't solve my problem.
No matter how much I ask,
It just keeps driving me mad,
I get no closer to that 'Southern Charm'.
This is for Van Zant the band, not Johnny Van Zant as a solo artist (Although he is the lead singer). 2+2 is a great song (so are all the others on the disc) but this last verse has been driving me crazy for a long time. Using my usual tricks with an audio editor (Sound Forge), I am now 99% sure that the last words, which are very hard to hear correctly, are 'Southern Charm' (which I think makes sense and fits into the context of the song - the premise is '2+2 don't add up to me and you'.)
