"When I Was A Lad" is one of the most well-known songs from Gilbert & Sullivan's comic operetta, "H.M.S. Pinafore". In this video, John Small (Johnny D) portrays Sir Joseph Porter singing that silly song in a concert performance of "H.M.S. Pinafore".
