The Lyrics

Oh, Barry Me Not..
Want no Manilow
His old pipes are shot
He can't sing, you know
Needs an easy chair,
And should not go on
But, he's still out there
With his hair bleached blonde..

Sings, "I Write The Songs"
Which, he didn't write
To Las Vegas throngs
With a denture bite..
Got those Dumbo ears,
And a nine inch nose
Everytime he sings,
Longer still, it grows...

Oh, Barry Me Not,
Need no Manilow..
The old pipes are shot,
Cannot sing, you know
Needs an easy chair
He should not keep on
Yet, he's still out there
With his hair bleached blonde

Had a couple Hits
In his younger days
"CopaCAbana"
"Mandy" took some plays
Also, had "Daybreak"
And "Bandstand BoogEE"
"Beautiful Music"?
Just a fantasy !

On "Amer'can Idol"
Showed 'em how to sing
The blind led the blind,
More than anything..
Still, he makes the rounds
Of talk shows, and such
When they cheer his sounds,
Sympathy, it's much..

Oh, Barry me not
Want no Manilow..
The old pipes are shot
Always were, you know
And Barry, you're not
Still in your young prime
Better hit the cot
It's retire time..

Better hit the cot,
It's retire time..

great concept and execution...and here's a sidenote..."i write the songs" was written by bruce johnston about brian wilson...and deservedly so...the best thing "barely manenough" wrote was the mc donald's jingle

Did you see him on the Tonight show recently? I don't agree with your point of view, but your parody is good. I'm not a "Fanilow" who will give you ones.

Back in 1989, Manilow and Dion released "comeback" albums at the same time. If I didn't know Dion DiMucci was from The Bronx and four years older than Barry Allen Pincus from Brooklyn, looking at those album covers, I would've sworn that Dion was the guy who beat Manilow up on the way home from school. And everybody who's met Dion (including me) seems to agree that he's a great guy, while people who've met Manilow (not including me) seem to think that he's a stuck-up... whatever's the masculine equivalent of "diva." Barry or Dion? Dion in a landslide. "We walk tall, Jack."

Thanks, Adagio...Thanks, alvin. Good pun on Barry's name.True about "I write the songs" and I'd forgotten about the Mcdonald's thing.....Thanks, 2Eagle. I, actually kind of like Barry. Don't think he's a Sinatra, or anything, but I just sort of play the Devil's advocate sometimes, for parody's sake......And thanks, Michael, interesting showbiz tale, there................Thanks, Kristof, and another good pun on Barry's name
