The Lyrics

Everyone must have seen the Lord of the Rings, but how many have read the books? While Peter Jackson's trilogy was great, not everything went as in the books, and he omitted several characters and altered others.
Hang down your head, Tom Bombadil
Hang down your head and pout -
Hang down your head, Tom Bombadil
Jackson did leave you out!

You lived along the river
You are the Oldest One -
You saved the butts of Hobbits
but Jackson had you undone

Hang down your head, Tom Bombadil
Hang down your head and pout
Hang down your head, Tom Bombadil
Poor Tom, you were left out

Jackson left out Goldberry -
omitted Old Willow tree
He left out the Wights of Barrows
they fought on their way to Bree

Hang down your head, Glorfindel
Hang down your head and scream
Hang down your head, Glorfindel
Poor elf, you were not seen

I came from West to Endor
I was left off the flick
In the book I saved Frodo -
I got replaced with a chick

Hang down your head, Glorfindel
Hang down your head and scream
Hang down your head, Glorfindel
Poor elf, you were not seen

I met them on path in forest,
I guided them to the ford
I conjured the flashflood flowing
and certainly not that broad

Hang down your head, Glorfindel
Hang down your head and scream
Hang down your head, Glorfindel
Poor elf, you were not seen

Arwen took my character
my horse and my shiny sword
Down at the ford of Bruinen
it was me and not her who rode

Hang down your head, Glorfindel
Hang down your head and scream
Hang down your head, Glorfindel
Poor elf, you were not seen

Who there can really blame me
for rotten and lousy mood
If it hadn’t been for Jackson,
I’d be in Hollywood

Hang down your head, Denethor
Hang down your head and cry
Hang down your head, Denethor
What they showed was a lie

Jackson showed me as coward
a man with a mind so weak
as someone not fit for regent
in the book I was not that meek

Hang down your head, Denethor
Hang down your head and cry
Hang down your head, Denethor
What they showed was a lie

I was harsh to kin and Gandalf
we suffered some real bad luck
But while I sure was a sourpuss
I was not a stupid... fool!

Hang down your head, Denethor
Hang down your head and cry
Hang down your head, Denethor
What they showed was a lie

I fought the Orcs and Sauron
I spied them with Palantir
I was a friend of Pippin -
A fool I did not incur

Hang down your head Faramir,
Hang down your head so low
Hang down your head Faramir
Jackson dealt you a blow

I encountered the Hobbits by river
I saved them in the book
I never desired the One Ring
in the film I was but a crook

Hang down your head Faramir,
Hang down your head so low
Hang down your head Faramir
Jackson dealt you a blow

He wrote me as world-class bully
and spineless and downright mean
If it hadn’t been for Jackson,
I'd be a human being

Hang down your head Faramir,
Hang down your head so low
Hang down your head Faramir
Jackson dealt you a blow

He trashed my reputation
and slandered me for my life
In the book I got compensation
I got Eowyn as my wife

Hang down your head, ol' Sauron
hang down your head and yell
hang down your head, ol' Sauron
Jackson truth did not tell

He showed you as an eyeball
flaming on top of tower
in the book you had mind and body
just missed the Ring of Power

Rise up your head, old Saruman
rise up your head and grin
Rise up your head, old Saruman
In the movie, you kind of win

Jackson left out your downfall
he left out the scouring of Shire
He didn't show you bully Wormtongue
nor wallowing you in mire

Rise up your head, old Saruman
rise up your head and grin
Rise up your head, old Saruman
In the movie, you kind of win

In the books you were mean and petty
a bully of lowest kind
what you did in the Shire
it showed your sadistic mind

Mouth of Sauron - July 12, 2018 - Report this comment
What about me, Susan? I had some great dialogue with Gandalf right before the climactic battle. And then I showed them Frodo's chain mail, insinuating that Sauron had captured him and was tormenting him. That's why Aragorn said "For Frodo" right before the charge. It's one of the most dramatic confrontations in the entire trilogy and they left it out. And now to add insult to injury, YOU dont even include me in the characters that were shortchanged

Even with that fatal oversight, I'm gonna give you ... what's higher than 5, cuz this is great. BTW, certain episodes, like the scouring of the Shire, wouldn't have worked in that trilogy. I mean, they already fulfilled the quest and saved Middle Earth, which sorta works as a mega-climactic event. So are you really going to add another climactic scene that would burn 20 minutes of film?
