The Lyrics

What kind of music teacher have I become in retirement? Yesterday...March 1, 2010...was the 200th birthday of Frederic Chopin...magnificent composer, piano artist, and Polish patriot. Here it is...one day late! ;D

Oh Freddie boy, you turned two hundred yesterday.
We should take note and celebrate your birth.
And so for all great music lovers I will say
You were among the finest who have walked the Earth.

Renowned composer wonderful performer Fred,
Evoking sounds beneath your nimble hand,
A patriot with Poland in your heart and head,
And a romantic partner of that gal George Sand.

Oh Freddie boy, so delicate - frail - sensitive,
No pounding Liszt who broke piano string,
And with your style, so lyrical and so pensive,
You taught the mighty grand piano how to sing!

Your "Polonaise" tune now is " 'Til The End Of Time",
Your "Fantasie" became "Chasing Rainbows".
To borrow them can never ever be a crime -
No sweeter music can be written, Heaven knows!

Rossini (a Leap Year baby) won't have another until 2012. At that time he will technically be celebrating his 55th. ;D

Cool parody. I've got a cd of Chopin's music. And I just went to see the local symphony play Debussy, Mozart, and Brahms. So i know when I say this is classical. 5's

Thanks for a nice ode to somebody for a change - an Irish ballad about a French/Polish composer. Three more years and it will be Wagner's bicentennial.

Eagle - Despite Wagner's evil anti-Semitism, his music speaks to me more than anybody. I am embarrassed as a civilized man to say it. He was an SOB, but his orchestral excepts reduce me to tears!

I've been Chopin at the bit to say that Freddie is on my A-Lizst! ... Wagner? I prefer Strauss: TT to FG, in a comment during the Palin campaign and parodying: "Thus Spake Sarah's Thruster".

I rate this C#, partly because you see sharp, and partly because that should be about 555 Hz, assuming tuning A to 440 Hz. (My math might be off a little -- never was very good at it.).

Q: What's the difference between a fish and a piano?

A: You can't tuna fish.

Classic. A very nice tribute to a very interesting composer. 5 measures.

Great tribute to Fred Chopin! I've taken a liking to classical music when I was 11-12 because I used to take piano lessons. Bravo! Flowing with melodious 555 notes with this one!
