Parody Written by:

Old Man Ribber

The Lyrics

Enoughy is enough! The trashing of songs with "one" ratings must stop. Conservatives...it isn't Michael Pacholek who's pulling this sh*t. Liberals...when I find who's doing this, I will rise in furious indignation! There is nothing more terrifying than when a raging "ribber" rises above its banks and obliterates the floodplain!

Mike P. doesn't "one" me
Though we disagree
He's a real straight shooter
That is plain to see
He respects good writing
If he thinks I'm wrong
'Though he'll diss my politics
He won't bash my song
Mike P. is a liberal lion
And his stuff is fun
He is not the b*stard
Who gives me a "one"

Mike's a Eastern liberal
I'm a redneck jerk
Yet I do admire him
And his crafty work
We are mirror images
An opposite match
If he is Ted Kennedy
Then I am Orin Hatch
Mike P. is New York all the way
I know how he does think
If he's in Kentucky
I'll buy him a drink

Guy and Bar - conservatives
John's moderate I guess
Won stays out of politics
And avoids the mess
Fiddlegirl and Tommy
Can bring all us cheer
But our funny give and take
Shows we are grown ups here
Mike P. doesn't "one" me
And shows he has some class
I'll find that S.O.B.
And I'll whip his *ss!

I dedicate this to Senator Michael Pacholek (D-NY) and Senator Todd Whitford (R-Ky). If only we were running the government! ;D

Great job! I've gotten anonymous "ones" before, too, and I can tell you it sure isn't fun. I sometimes refer to the folks who do it as "Dexy's Midnight 1-ers".

Absolutely right, OMR! Parodies should be rated based od creativity and technical finesse...

Good one, Ribber, and worth some 5's. I agree with your sentiments - that parodies should be rated on creativity, following OS and humor. I've read both yours and Michael P's and both of you have done some great stuff. You can also think of 1 bombs as having a good parody because you obviously got to someone. I read that on an Amiright comment more than once and think it is a wise thought.

All I can say is that I agreed with you about one-bombs for the first few months I was posting here - even wrote a few retaliatory parodies in reaction to them - but after a while I learned that they mean nothing and should just be ignored, The votes that really hurt are the 3s and 4s...Enjoyed your 'vent'!!!...555!!!

(Pounds chest with my fist): Senator Michael Pacholek will remain "Supreme"....and so shall you, Old Man Ribber! You ought to work alongside with him! True that he doesn't one you or anybody! I never give "ones" period, though I got my share of "one" votes. I've been told trolls anonymously give ones because they have nothing better to do and that I shouldn't take it personally. But now I see "ones" as a motivation as to what I need to work extra hard on when I write my parodies. I only give 4s and 5s votes. Mike P. will always be the god of political/liberal parodies. 5's!

Blessed are the Peace Ribbers... ;)

Would musicians be able to declare tax-exempt status in your administration?

Good point well made, OMR. I've been hanging around here long enough to know this will always be an issue...some people can't see beyond their own belief systems/political leanings/inherent prejudices to make fair assessment of a parody's worth. Mr P is indeed a fair minded gent and deserved any credit coming to him. Great job here. 555

The Ribber rises again, good job. I have seen in the past week or so that some of the "one" votes were for 'funny' and 'overall' but the pacing was graded fairly. That's a start I guess. 555
