The Lyrics

Hillary's campaign is off to a shady start. After hiring Christian coaches and speaking in the southern states with a new souther accent - she is all the rage!
Oh she went down south for to give a speech
and suddenly was speaking with a drawl
oh Hillary is a spunky one
steppin' up to say "hey ya-all"

gotta sell, gotta sell
gotta sell herself away
for she's goin' to Louisiana this pretending Pollyanna
fakin more that southern charm for her prey

oh she went and bought a marketer man
to appeal more to Christians 'long the way
to teach her how to get them folk
who believe in God and pray

gotta sell, gotta sell
gotta sell herself away
this wannabe Princess Diana wants to be top banana
so the Christian coach has gotta stay

Good pacing, etc. Good job. 5's

Giuliani three marriages, McCain two, Hillary one... yeah, it's the Democrat who needs the "Christian coach." Hard to believe: The GOP candidate with the one good marriage is the Mormon. Not that his religion is why he hasn't got a chance.

The fallacy here is that "Christian" means only evangelical/pentecostal types who practice few, if any, of the teachings of Jesus.

Michael: focus little one! This song is about Hillary - can't you see that? Your whining is really getting to be a bit much, don't you think?

Linda have you been having nightmares of an Obama/Clinton White House? Doesn't matter - the Executive Branch will be held by the Democrats. After the past two terms, the majority of the country - with the execption of the nutballs - are going to get it right. The party is over.

Well, hard as it might be to believe, I only remember bits and pieces of this old children's song, so I'm not voting. But the story is kind of cute and whether one agrees with it or not it's certainly not mean, vicious or over-the-top. But I do think the Democrats have a very solid shot at the Executive Office in 2008. I think most Americans are ready for a change at this point - and then, well, we will see what we will see, won't we?

Hillary does have a talent for misrepresenting herself. For example, being named after Sir Edmund Hillary, even though she was born several years before his successful climb up Everest, before which he was not very well known. And then there was her claim to have "always" been a NY Yankee fan, kind of an oddity for someone who grew up not far from Chicago. On the other hand, since she lived in Arkansas for over 10 years, her claim to being southern isn't really that far off base. But then, I don't recall any drawl when she and Bill moved into the White House in 1993.

I think the pacing was a touch off. But when President Bush mispronounces nuclear, that is a legitimate parody target. And when another major party presidential candidate concocts an unnatural drawl to say patronizing things like "I don't feel no ways tired. I come to far from where I started from," she, too, deserves to be spoofed. And this parody does it very cleverly, particularly with the "Louisiana/pollyanna" line.

-- -- -- Paul Robinson - thank you & true! ------- --- -- Steve K. ----- --- I don't think Hillary will do well - but ya never know. She doesn't seem to have an accent in the slightest until she gives speeches in the south.. compare, it's really pretty funny to hear! --- --- ----- Jason - me too! I always feel good about helping someone as nice, but terribly misguided as Michael & it's my pleasure to help him out!

Definitely one of your better ones, Linda, and I agree that affectations like changing your speech patterns to try and win over the audience are definitely appropriate targets for parody. 'fraid I don't see Hillary as a "wannabe Princess Diana", though by any stretch of the imagination: unless you're trying to get her into a Mercedes in Paris, that is.

She is STILL doing it! This weekend she turned black during her speech to blacks and jessie jackson... If you haven't heard it yet, you've gotta give it a listen - it's funny shyt!
