"Should Lott Resign?"

The Lyrics

The Republican leader in the US Senate, Senator Trent Lott from Mississippi, is now in very hot water after some remarks that praised Senator Strom Thurmond's segregationist policies during the latter's 1948 presidential run. It seems to be that both conservatives and liberals are calling for his resignation from the leadership, despite multiple apologies.
Should Trent Lott's words just be forgot
Words of days left behind?
Should Trent Lott's words just be forgot
Or should he just resign

Will Lott resign, my dear
Trent Lott resign
And if he stays, it's madness yet
Trent Lott resign

Should Trent Lott's words just be forgot
Words of days left behind?
Should Trent Lott's words just be forgot
Or should he just resign

And blacks now want Lott's reign to end
He was way out of line
And if he stays, it's madness yet
Trent Lott resign
