Trivia time - Did you know that the term "Top Banana" originated in the mid to late 1800s when burlesque shows first began? And no burlesque did not start out as a strip tease bump and grind. That only happened in its later days in its deline. It was more like Vaudeville. Anyway top banana was coined from slapstick when the comedy performers would slip on a banana peel. "Top Banana" was the star of the show where as under studies at the bottom of the food chain were resigned to be on the receiving end of pies in the face and seltzer in the pants.
