| Parody Song Title: | "Can this Bus Ride be Unbroken" |
| Parody Written by: | Bob Konigsberg |
Some lyrics reference local bus routes in San Jose, CA, but shouldn't matter overall.
I was standing at the bus stop,
On one cold and cloudy day,
And I saw the bus come rolling,
For to take commuters away.
Chorus:
Can this bus ride be unbroken, By and by, Lord, by and by,
There's a ragged route a-waiting, Inconvenience! That's their cry.
Lord, I told the big bus driver,
Big Bus Driver, please go there,
If you give me one more transfer,
I will tear out all my hair.
(Chorus)
I switched buses from the 60,
Going to that old Valley Fair,
I would transfer to route 304
But you can't go here from there.
(Chorus)
Will I ever, see my fam-ly,
Help me please, Lord, cure my doubts,
For while I was, on my way home,
They re-arranged all the routes.
(Chorus)
On one cold and cloudy day,
And I saw the bus come rolling,
For to take commuters away.
Chorus:
Can this bus ride be unbroken, By and by, Lord, by and by,
There's a ragged route a-waiting, Inconvenience! That's their cry.
Lord, I told the big bus driver,
Big Bus Driver, please go there,
If you give me one more transfer,
I will tear out all my hair.
(Chorus)
I switched buses from the 60,
Going to that old Valley Fair,
I would transfer to route 304
But you can't go here from there.
(Chorus)
Will I ever, see my fam-ly,
Help me please, Lord, cure my doubts,
For while I was, on my way home,
They re-arranged all the routes.
(Chorus)

I'm not an avid bus rider...but I can imagine such a dilemma..funny and good writing...5's
Nice work, Bob...by the way, since you mentioned being in San Jose have you ever checked out the "Espresso Gardens Cafe" there? On Thursday they have "Open Mic" night and regular amiright writer's Rick & Mari Duncan generally perform as well as a lot of other talented folk-type singers and parody writer's. I myself have trekked up there a few times from here in L.A. when I was traveling up to Northern California (and on the way back down, too) and the last trip I performed a couple of my numbers, with Rick & Mari backing me up. It's a fun place whether you want to perform or not, though. Oh...yeah...your parody...I gave you "5-5-5"...
I missed this note, Paul. Yes, he's a regular. We goaded him into posting these. You may have met him already.
Rick, cool...probably did meet him...but meeting 20 or 30 new people in one night I'm lucky to remember my own name much less anybody elses...
