The Lyrics

This is my 300th SJH IPASOY parody!!! It deals with the Sukhoi Su-25 (NATO codename Frogfoot) that caused quite a lot of damage when the Soviets were in Afghanistan from '79 to '89. They were plagued by the Mujahideen that used outdated, but effective, weapons high in the mountains which caused trouble for Soviet convoys below. Normally, Mil-24 Hind gunships would come in or fast fighters to blast the mountains with their cave arsenals, but they proved largely ineffective and when US Stinger missiles arrived they were suffering horrible losses. But then the Su-25 was used and proved to be a deadly warplane. Most Stingers failed to take it down b/c the aircraft had IR suppression exhaust dampeners and even if an engine was hit, there was an armored barrier between them, so the other survived and the Frogfoot could make it back home with tremendous damage. The Mujas were so alarmed at this one aircraft that they nicknamed it the GP or "German Project" b/c they could not believe that the Soviets had built such an incredible aircraft! To the Soviets, the Su-25 was known as the "Gratch" which is a bird that can get into tight spaces for food. The Su-25K could do 660 mph, performed Hi-Lo-Hi strikes, was armed with a powerful 30mm cannon and 10 hardpoints to carry 5 tons of ordnance which included: 57-330mm unguided rockets, free-fall bombs, laser-guided munitions, cluster bombs, incendiaries, and other dispensers (even napalm). The cockpit and all critical areas of the fuselage were up-armored and an armored barrier was used between the twin engines with IR suppression devices. This aircraft is frequently compared to the US A-10 Warthog, but it is actually more of a modern Sturmovik "flying tank" aircraft. It has been modified continuously and is still in service, 330 of them produced initially.
The Frogfoot took abuse
on frontline

Saw Soviet Afghan War use
Combat flyin’
Mujas were dyin’

Mujas couldn’t stand it
Sukhois flyin’ ‘round
Stingers would prove deadly
Yet most still failed to shoot them down!

The Frogfoot took abuse
on frontline
“Gratch” time

Hi-Lo flew
Hi-Lo flew
Hi-Lo flew
Was support for the Mils
Struck here and there
Protected infantry
Mujas didn’t know how

Enemy!
The Frogfoot took abuse
on frontline
(Mujas called it the GP)
