The Lyrics

This one is based on the death of my mother in 2001 and the hell she was in when under nursing facility care. It really doesn't matter which of them she was in and out of until her death, they all were zoos filled with caged human animals who were treated as such. The unsanitary living conditions, the lack of any professionalism, little to no mercy, the screams and moans of the dying, the 24/7 vacuum cleaners running and yet nurses just standing around most of the time, eating, or on the phone. I hated those places. Had I not visited my mother the week before she died with a surprise visit to her last nursing home, she would have died w/o me as she had a 105o temperature and her nurse failed to contact any doctor let alone transfer her to a hospital. But I made them and she was awake the next morning- a Friday. I got to speak to my mom one last time before she was pumped with drugs and allowed to die (her temperature returned and she had double-pneumonia). After she died, some years later, those facilities were reported for gross negligience after being reviewed. I think it is a shame to take the elderly and subject them to a fate worse than some prisons. My mom was starved, abused, and refused care and I couldn't be there 24/7 b/c I was working a F/T job myself and had my own obligations. Now I am dying but refuse hospital care and will never be put in a nursing facility- God willing.
They put her in a zoo
She was dyin’

Better perform a nursing home review
Patients often cryin’
Barely livin’ or suddenly dyin’

I couldn’t understand it
Nurses standin’ around
Loud screamin’, patients moanin’ badly
Even vacuum cleaners couldn’t kill the sound

They put her in a zoo
She was dyin’
Over time

I loved you
I loved you
I loved you
I love you always
People must be made aware
Of nursing home inhumanity
It absolutely drove me crazy

No real mercy
They put her in a zoo
She was dyin’
(Thankfully, she died in a hospital, on a Wednesday)

Dedicated to my mom Brenda Jeanne Arndt nee Haverstein (5/19/40-7/25/01), age 61. I live in California, she lies in Pennsylvania next to my father, Robert Sr., and my older brother Stephen.

Can't rate this as funny, but I know your story. I lost my Mom in 2001 and my Dad two years later. The nursing home took good care of them, but there is no privacy and you are regimented by someone else's schedule. My brother lived just a few miles away and could keep track of their treatment. When Dad went into the hospital they kept sticking him with needles to test his blood, for what, I don't know. I recall after death you could see massive red spots on his arms where he had been poked and damaged for no useful reason. This is one "Spell" that needs to be read. I does get you thinking.

This is very sad Rob, :-(, and I feel a little ashamed about giving you a 5 for funny, but I still will give you a 5 5 5 anyway, cause it's still a great parody! :-)

NP on rating for Funny- my info-parodies do not need that. I think that if someone has something interested they posted and you like it just give them a 444 or 555, whatever. ISTM that many parodies here are about real events that are NOT funny at all- even though we parodists DO make fun of them or express sarcasm as an alternative. This one was about nursing facility unmerciful healthcare for the elderly. I brought it up b/c I am think of my mom who has been gone a decade this year. She suffered a lot and they made her suffer even more. I never want to go through that hell...
