The Lyrics

The Fw-200 Condor is one of the most famous aircraft of WW2. A Lufthansa airliner turned into a maritime bomber and reocn aircraft (a purpose it was not structurally suited for), the Condor worked with German U-boats to sink Allied shipping in the early part of the war- the U-boat "Happy Times". The Condor did surprising well; so well, that Churchill called it "The Scourge of the Atlantic" as it threatened Britain's lifeline on the sea. British fighters ultimately defeated the aircraft, but not before it had sunk 500,000 tons of shipping!!! The aircraft when hit caught fire easily and it broke its back many times during landings due to being structurally weak in the rear fuselage- never suited to carry 2.3 tons of bombs. The Fw-200 also was one of the first aircraft to try out the German Hs-293 glide bomb and was the last aircraft into Berlin on a civilian flight arriving from Barcelona on April 14, 1945. Hitler used the Fw-200 as Fuhrerflugzeug (his personal aircraft) and in emergency Hitler would leave the aircraft via a drop-down free-fall seat. Baur, his personal pilot, wanted to get Hitler out of Berlin with a Fw-200 or Ju-290 in April 1945... but the Fuhere refused.
Anti-shipping with a Fw-200
Went from Airline to maritime

Sinking convoy ships is what you do
North Atlantic flyin’
No, Churchill wasn’t lyin’

“Scourge of the Atlantic”
You’re scoutin’ the sea lanes
With 2.3 tons of bombs
To destroy Britain’s lifeline

Anti-shipping with a Fw-200
Went from Airline to maritime
Co- op with U-boat wolfpacks, worked fine

It sunk you
It sunk you
It sunk you
It sunk you and WOW!!!
It sunk 500,000 tons
A multitude of Allied ships goin’ down
Send the British fighters, NOW!!!

Once a Lufthansa beauty…
Anti-shipping with a Fw-200
Went for Airline to maritime
(but broke its spine half the time)

Amazing how many structurally unsound products manage to stay in service. By that time most factories knew how to build planes that would not break when they landed. Too bad Hitler never got to try out the trapdoor escape.

If Baur had to take Hitler out that late he would have had to use the reserve Bv-222 seaplane that had diesel engines so it could refuel by U-boat at sea. It would have taken him somewhere near Greenland or Iceland and then the Fuhrer would have transferred over to a Type XXI U-boat in complete safety to take the long trip to S America- most likely Argentina. S America received 250,000 Germans during WW2 and the last communication from the bunker was to Tierra del Fuego (Fire Island). Argentina was coerced into decalring war on Germany just so that the US could send Intel teams down to seize German U-boats that surrendered months AFTER the war carrying secret weapons and possibly either Nazi officials or Reichsgeld stolen from Europe. Some late trips carried ex-Brandenberg Kommandos and I.G. Farbem NW-7 industrial spies- bet you never heard of them before!!!
