The Lyrics
Veronic Lake was born in 1922 as Constance Frances Marie Ockelman (German-Dutch) in Brooklyn, NY. She was a stunning blonde beauty that became a movie star during the war and became a famous "bombshell" pin-up girl favored by US servicemen on land, air, and sea (usually third after Betty Grable and Rita Hayworth)*. She died in 1973, but in 1988 Disney's Tristar hit "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" featured her reincarnation through animorphics into the sultry and sexy Jessica Rabbit who sang at the Ink and Paint Club. The director and studio used Lake as the primary model for Jessica Rabbit (voiced by Kathleen Turner). She still lives on in that character in comic books, video games, and merchandise.
