| Parody Song Title: | "The Human Cannonball" |
| Parody Written by: | Alvin Rhodes |
go down to the circus
you can hear the lion's roar
watch the graceful acrobatics
as folks swing above the floor
but you'd better not be missin'
the best act of them all
with a noise like roarin' thunder
flies the human cannonball
now the clown acts all are dandy
with their antics and their play
and the bearded lady's whiskers
are peculiar, i must say
the elephants get vocal
and the monkeys caterwaul
but the thing that gets me goin'
is the human cannonball
the train pulled in the station
it must be circus day
folks rolled onto the platform
and wandered down my way
i looked for him all over
i saw him, not at all
i wonder what has happened
to the human cannonball
they'd lost him in the last town
his exit sure was grand
its sure to remembered
all over this here land
they saw him flyin' over
but no one saw him fall
and that's the tragic story
of the human cannonball
you can hear the lion's roar
watch the graceful acrobatics
as folks swing above the floor
but you'd better not be missin'
the best act of them all
with a noise like roarin' thunder
flies the human cannonball
now the clown acts all are dandy
with their antics and their play
and the bearded lady's whiskers

Excellent fit, very well done...great story...fives............I did one to this old country std. about a year ago, titled..."The Wimpish Canine Bull"...and hardly nobody knew the original song...
Pretty good, and good to see Roy Acuff here. I once saw a clip of Robert Kennedy's 1968 campaign train, and "Ruthless Bobby" was lampooned with a song called "The Ruthless Cannonball." It was funny then. I'm sure there's a song in somebody's head that can be about a fat man doing a "cannonball" into a pool. Maybe even one about the film "The Cannonball Run."
thanks AFW and michael
alvin, you missed a 'be' in the last verse or is that a tip off of why no one saw him land? 5's
real good, better than the so called country music of today, you should send it to Jiimie, Ma Dickens favorite son , thanks
