Chestnuts roasting by the oceanside;
Jack Frost jumping in the pool;
Yuletide carols being sung on the beach,
And I feel like a fool!
Everybody knows at Christmastime it's s'posed to snow—
All this sun and warmth ain't right!
Palms trees gracing the streets 'stead of pines.
I'll find it hard to sleep tonight!
It's Florida—what can I say?
I took December as the time for my vacay.
My aging mother needs me by her side
For one more Christmas 'cause she thinks she will die;
And so I'm shouting out to those back home,
May this year's holidays be swell,
But then as for me
In these 80 degrees,
Merry Christmas, oh well!
