Song Parodies -> Ocean State Mazurka
| Original Song Title: | "Polish National Anthem (DÄ…browski's Mazurka)" |
| Original Performer: | National Anthems |
| Parody Song Title: | "Ocean State Mazurka" |
| Parody Written by: | Dylan Baranski |
November 11 may be Veterans' Day, but it is also Independence Day in Poland. So, as a celebration of my Polish heritage, I decided to parody the Polish national anthem. Besides, there's not many national anthem parodies that aren't parodies of the US, Canadian, or British national anthems. As the title suggests, it's another parody I wrote about Rhode Island. As always, enjoy the parody, and happy Dzień Niepodległości! DKTOS?
Rhode Island will never perish
So long as we stand strong.
Foreign violence will not crush us,
Neither will bad song.
March, march, Rhode Island,
Strong as Cumberlandite (1) you’ll stand!
We shall all support you,
And we’ll keep your skies blue.
March, march, Rhode Island,
Strong as Cumberlandite you’ll stand!
We shall all support you,
And we’ll keep your skies blue.
‘Cross Aquidneck, & ‘cross the Blackstone, (2)
We will fight for our state!
Roger Williams from Mass had flown,
Our land he did create.
March, march, Rhode Island,
Strong as Cumberlandite you’ll stand!
We shall all support you,
And we’ll keep your skies blue.
March, march, Rhode Island,
Strong as Cumberlandite you’ll stand!
We shall all support you,
And we’ll keep your skies blue.
Our state may be smallest,
But her fame is widespread!
May every one of the gods bless
The land upon which we tread!
March, march, Rhode Island,
Strong as Cumberlandite you’ll stand!
We shall all support you,
And we’ll keep your skies blue.
March, march, Rhode Island,
Strong as Cumberlandite you’ll stand!
We shall all support you,
And we’ll keep your skies blue.
Our culture is one of a kind,
And it shall always be!
In the name of all mankind,
We shall always be free!
March, march, Rhode Island,
Strong as Cumberlandite you’ll stand!
We shall all support you,
And we’ll keep your skies blue.

Cultural Notes:
1-State rock of Rhode Island. So named because it's only found commonly in Cumberland, with traces scattered throughout the Narragansett Bay.
2-Aquidneck Island is the largest island in Narragansett Bay, which is one possible origin of the name "Rhode Island". The Blackstone River is a river in Rhode Island, whose mouth is at the Pawtucket Falls.
