The Lyrics
This parody dedicated to canine hero Bodie of SACPD who took bullets from a gunman to protect an officer who returned fire. The gunman was taken down and bled out. He received no medical attention as the officers quickly loaded Bodie into a vehicle for transport to a vet. He suffered injuries to his jaw, tongue, teeth, and left paw and was bleeding badly. The officers encouraged the German Shepherd to stay alert and he pulled through with immense community support here in Sacramento. He healed and briefly returned to duty but is now retired and helping in the training of his replacement that lives with the same officer's family.

Note: There are numerous variations of this OS and I chose one in the middle. Bodie also reminds me of my own German Shepherd Sheeba that was a canine guardian angel, having rescued me several times in life as an infant. She attacked a home intruder and also saved me from being killed by a truck when my mom lost control of the stroller in high winds on the top of a hill. As I was rolling down the street out of control a heavy truck rounded the corner and Sheeba grabbed the handle with her teeth to stop the stroller while positioning her body in front of the truck. That Shepherd was always by my side and looked after me day and night. She chose to sleep by my cradle once I was born. Previously she had slept at the foot of my parents bed. She also used to bring me my Batman plush doll to me when I was crying. She was left in Pa. when my dad was forced to suddenly relocate to a military base in Cali in the late 1960s. No other pet ever compared to her. I KNOW I will be reunited with her in heaven.
