The Lyrics

Anyone who follows cricket knows that at present the World One-Day Tournament is taking place in Australia and New Zealand. England currently are not doing too well!...mainly because they are low on confidence. This parody I wrote years ago but is quite appropriate now...if you're an England fan!

I should have chanced my arm.
I should have chanced my arm.
And hit that ball for six!
I could have hit a four
Like many times before, but feared I’d lose my sticks.
I’d like to show, let people know I’m fearless.
And more than that, they’d see my charm.
It’s now too late I see
That when he bowled at me, I should have chanced,
Chanced, chanced my arm!

I should have smashed that ball.
I should have smashed that ball,
And put it in the crowd.
I could have made my name,
But it’s a crying shame; I would have been so proud.
I’ll never know what made me so defensive.
What made me be so very calm.
But it’s too late I see
That when he bowled at me, I should have chanced,
Chanced, chanced my arm!
