Song Parodies -> "Zinaida"

Original Song Title:

"Grenada"

Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Zinaida"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

A Soviet counterpart to Blonde Valkyrie but younger and earlier in the war- Zinaida Portnova fought from age 15-17 (1942-44). Was similarly caught and killed by the enemy. Note that Wiki says she was turned over to the Gestapo but she killed military uniformed interrogators with weapons, so that had to be SS. I got my info from the book "Heroines of the Soviet Union 1941-1945" (Osprey Elite Series) which is more reliable. This version modified for continuity.
Zinaida, Zinaida
In action since ‘42
Collecting and hiding weapons
What ever became of you?

Just a child at 15
“Young Avenger“, Red Youth
Sabotage and murder,
Germans coming after you

Recon in Obol
Served as kitchen aid
Poisoned German food
Took poison, were so brave

Vomited toxins by drinking whey!
But you could never show your face

ESCAPED!!!

Zinaida, Zinaida
In action since ‘42
Collecting and hiding weapons
What ever became of you?

More rebellion and murder
Blew up a power plant
Germans were out hunting
They would bring you back

Caught and taken in
Grabbed a pistol and shot them
Another officer and men
Then escaped again!

You lived to fight another day
Met partisans along the way!

ESCAPED!!!

Zinaida, Zinaida
In action since ‘42
Collecting and hiding weapons
What ever became of you?

But Russian traitors caught you
Turned you over to the SS
Tortured you and blinded you
Left you bloody… such a mess

But you would not confess under stress
So they drove you into the forest
BLAM! Shot you as murderess.
There you lay at rest, two years did your best…

Zinaida, Zinaida
In action since ‘42
Collecting and hiding weapons
A true Soviet Hero!

Intriguing subject. She sounds really interesting.

Some similarities with BV, but Zinaida was just a teenager while BV was in her 20s. Both were patriotic but the Germans started it when they came to take Zinaida's Grandmother's cattle. She tried to stop them and a German soldier used his K98 to butt her in the face. That started Zinaida's personal war against the Germans. She helped kill over 100 German soldiers in a group effort over 2 years and 13 soldiers herself through poison and gunfire! BV was raped by the Reds and lost both her mother and sister to brutality. She killed approx. 16 Red soldiers with poison, garrot wire, Puma knife, and an automatic weapon (SMG, either VG or captured PPSh-41). Both were executed when caught. Zinaida is known but BV remains virtually unknow except to her living family which are friends with my German side of the family. Both were patriots, both killed while under occupation, and both died under occupation...
