The Lyrics

Two years ago this week I began researching the game show “Beat the Clock”. Although I didn’t learn of the 1951 episode featuring 300 Boy Scouts until three and a half weeks later, and therefore I have not known about it for exactly two years, we are close enough to that date that it soon will be exactly two years that I’ve known about it.
Let’s do two years, researching this rare show,
Research for anything at all,
Spend two years, looking for kinescopes,
It started one day in the fall!

A new year brought thoughts, and dreams, and more,
But I don’t regret part of it,
It’s two years since then, I still am floored,
That this show really did exist!

Remember, in 1951,
300 Boy Scouts saw “Roxanne”,
Three Scouts felt an elephant; what fun,
Blindfolds and boxing gloves on hands,

That’s two years, I’ve had to learn and share,
Of this rare show no one knew of,
Since two years, more people know and care,
And let’s be thankful this was done!
