The Lyrics

Amid so many military anniversaries (Midway 1942, D-Day 1944, Six Days War 1967), I wonder how we'll remember the three current U.S. conflicts. In particular, the Libyan incursion enters its 11th week with no end in sight, motivated by the "Responsibility to Protect" principle that wasn't applied to uprisings in Iran, Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, Yemen or Syria. TOS told of a love that was lost because the lover was mute. The timid measures in Libya may yield a similar result. But this president is not comfortable with the inequality of victory and defeat.
Obama was a hood Chicagoan, standin' high 'gainst war.
He felled the governing Libyan, fadin' over on the Trip'li shore.
Obama just stood, glared and forward set NATO,
So Congress couldn't cancel weapons' flow.

Barack Obama, he never got permissed.
Barack Obama, he ought to be dismissed.
Is it any wonder that his race [1] is dead?
November's the cure; all should vote Red.

He always worked for guns in tethers but shelled with Tomahawk.
The Congress swore his heedless raids had sixty days on clock.
Obama's too stubborn and clever to resign [2]
Because his heart invaded, not his spine.

Barack Obama, he never got permissed.
Barack Obama, he ought to be dismissed.
Is it any wonder that his race [1] is dead?
November's the cure; all should vote Red.

The White House was a lonely place again; he went ev'rywhere.
His heart was set on Arabian Spring and myths of Tahrir Square. [3]
Obama just stood sharing teleprompter's glow,
And told them that Gadhafi had to go.

Barack Obama, he never got permissed.
Barack Obama, he ought to be dismissed.
Is it any wonder that his race [1] is dead?
November's the cure; all should vote Red.

And in the fray the Muslim Brotherhood fought/won Libyan raid, [4]
And took the oil fields, barred our way and bowled aside all trade.
Obama abandoned our drones that set them free,
His wishes unfulfilled 'though bold shines he.

Barack Obama, he never got permissed.
Barack Obama, he ought to be dismissed.
Is it any wonder that his race [1] is dead?
November's the cure; all should vote Red.
[1] the 2012 presidential race
[2] from this "kinetic military action", not the presidency
[3] site of many Egyptian rallies
[4] This stanza is my forecast for "hope and change" in Libya and other Arab nations.

I've always said that if you want to explain Obama, don't look to Kenya, or to Black, or to Indonesia, or to Muslim. Remember always, he is "Chicago". Your prediction that the Islamists will take the oil fields and cut off supplies to the west sounds like the most probable outcome of this war. And, why isnt Kh-Qu-Gaddfy-i the target? He should be the first objective. And, while we're at it, use one of those drones to take out Asad in Syria. He deserves it, too.

As a REP i find it anousing that DEMs always refer to GWB as apathetic or just plain stupid but ignore how smug and arrogant Obama is b/c he has already gotten into the history books as the first Black President and he won a Nobel Prize. Honestly, he could just sit on his ass for his first term, or what's left of it. Where's the promised CHANGE??? OK, he can't do it all or alone, but he can influence his party and take some temporary measures to help the average Joe in America. At least us REPs WILL cater to the rich and corporations... you know, the people and organizations that can create millions of jobs. Sorry, but supporting mom and pop operations and special interests along with creating Big Govt won't do anything ro fix this economic mess. Only solution at this time for revenue is more taxes which no one likes.

Patrick: The childhood influences that you mention, plus colleges and radical pastors, prepared him to community organize and be noticed by Chicago pols. I think NATO has targeted Ghadafi, but I would prefer never to have stepped into Libya.
Rob: Thanks for mentioning other reasons to vote BHO out; the Libyan adventure alone wouldn't be enough. Congress slapped his wrist last week for ignoring the 60-day limit of the 1974 War Powers Act (like past presidents did).

Yes, use Chicago to explain Obama. Use his experience in helping poor people get what's coming to him. Use his experience in stopping a conservative-caused recession from turning into a depression. Use his experience in stopping a stupid war and winning the right one (he killed Osama bin Laden). Use his experience in getting 30 million uninsured people health insurance. But, hey, if it's experience you want, vote for Newt Gingrich. Then you'll see a race that's dead.

The recession began because the government strong-armed the banks into making bad loans to people with no means of repaying them. They did this because they knew the government would bail them out when the loans went bust. This was done by pulling money out of the productive sector and handing it over to the speculators. Did you see 60 Minutes yesterday? Wall Street is now in the hands of computer assisted gamblers who wager on stocks the way bookies used to wager on horse races. But no one ever suggested that the running of horses in a circle should be allowed to determine the fate of manufacturing and retail firms, or employment. What is needed is a way to disengage the wagering on stock prices from the legitimate raising of capital for business expansion. Which war has Obama stopped? Troops are still in Iraq. I'm not sure if a surrender date has been set in Afghanistan, but if it has, there is no reason to keep good men over there getting killed. I have no objection to killing Khadafy. Especially if I could save a few bucks when I fill the tank of my tank. Health insurance is not the same thing as health care. The poor already have health care, which the taxpayer subsidizes. The only effect the government can have is to keep forcing prices up for those not "lucky" enough to be either rich or poor, and to drive the actual providers: doctors, nurses, technicians into more lucrative and less regulated endeavors. It takes years of dedication and training to become a doctor. Anyone can be made a government health care bureaucrat overnight. Just look into any government office and you'll see what I mean. A lot of those folks would be hard pressed to score "retarded" on an IQ test. How long are the Chinese going to keep paying for our destructive economic policies and wars? Count on Obama to combine the high costs of our current mixed payer health care system with the bankruptcy and rationing of Canadian or UK style single payer. What will we do when China finally refuses to pick up the tab for half the population of Mexico, who will also be added to the rolls by the time this whole debacle goes into effect?

Patrick: Thanks for your thorough second comment on the US malaise.
Michael: As my first comment asserted, Chicago is not the whole cause. Would you prefer "good Hawaiian" in line 1?

BJM - Too many deep thoughts in the parody and comments to address. Let it suffice to say that once again you have tickled our funny bones and teased our brains simultaneously. ;D
