The Lyrics
My music hobby is performing old songs (mainly 30’s through 70’s). I write funny parodies for some of them. I change the song’s serious theme to something funny but retain original lyrics and rhyme as much as possible. This one got started by changing the song theme from "I can only give you love that lasts forever" to "I will give my cat a love that lasts forever" .

And a promise that I won’t have her declawed
And the only home I own
That’s controlled by her alone

I will give my cat some birds to watch in springtime
And a place to hide from that dog down the hall
And a litter box I own

They would give her a lot of cat toys
All I have are these arms to enfold her
Because all my things she’s destroyed
If you’re wondering what I’m asking in return, cat
You’ll be glad to know that my demands are small
