Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"New Orleans"

Parody Written by:

Joseph Fernandez

Start loadin' the cars
We're leaving today
I don't want no part of it...
New Orleans, New Orleans...
These vagabond youth..
might be hit by a stray...
storm came through the heart of it..
New Orleans, New Orleans..
I want to wake up..
in a city above the sea..
and find I'm out of a job
out on the street...

The hurricane blues...
I'm going insane..
They'll make a brand new city here...
In old New Orleans...
If they can pump it bare...
They'll make it... anywhere..
It's up to you..
New Orleans, New Orleans...

New Orleans...
I want to wake up
In a city with some police...
and find I'm safe from the flood...
Top off the levee...
King George please now...
save us right now...
It's up to you
New Orleans... New Orleans...

This reminds me of my parody Detroit Detroit. Perhaps a new city will emerge from this disaster (look what happened to Chicago after the Fire).

I had to dock you one on the pacing because New Orleans has more syllables than New York. We have a twisted need to laugh at tragedy. The King Geroge part got me - is that Mad King George or Dumb King George?
