The Lyrics

Hey Abe,
Don't go near the Ford theater
Maybe catch the late show later
John Wilkes Booth has got an evil plan

Hey Abe,
Seats in balcony are "No-no"
You'll make Mary, Yoko Ono
Change the course of hist'ry while you can

Now listen Abe, the threat is grave
He don't care at all, the way you freed a slave
He's an actor who sides with the south
Has often trashed you with his mouth
And regrets

Hey Abe, If you wish to stay alive,
Heed this message and survive
It isn't just a folly of my own

Hey Abe,
You've recently, had dreams, quite stirring,
Of a strange ship, re-occuring,
That's a dream that really could come true, you see..

Hey Abe, April fourteenth, stay at home now,
Read a poem now, do not roam now,
Take a tip, detour your destiny

Now come on, Abe
Don't roll fate's wheel
I'm a stranger, here to say the danger's real
"Our American Cousin" is the name
Of stage play that could bear the shame, ordeal
Must not be..

Hey Abe, the devil's blend is not pretend,
Don't let this be the end, my friend
It isn't just a folly of my own

It isn't just a folly of my own..

Just been reading a book on the assassination. Lots of conspiracy theories, just like the Kennedy assassination. The Northern press was nearly as hostile to Lincoln as the South and many editors openly advocated for his murder. I wonder if anyone still performs "Our American Cousin".

AFW - WOW! You have everything in here except the lead actress of the play (Laura Keane)! Fantastic job! ;D
