I get very depressed and sometimes lose hope for myself, but of course we all do. We all struggle in life and there's always more and more problems in society everyday. Nobody is perfect, no matter how we live our lives, there's always going to be problems - small ones that only affect specific people and big ones that impact the whole world! I thought I'd write this one, because someone did recently submit "Welcome to the Real World (Matrix Style)" as a recording, and I wanted to do a parody of this old traditional classic too.
It's a world of shame and a world of tears

Good job. I did one to the same OS, but your's has 4 times as much substance as mine. Don't sweat the recent votes, no one looks at mine after the first day either.
David, I was impressed with the sincerety of your words, and I agree with you--kind of reminds of Bruce Springstein's words in "Cover Me", I mean the sentiment is similar.

I agree with Adagio, once off the front page here, people really don't search through the site to find older works, so your votes and comments really drop after the first day. I'd suggest keeping an eye out on the Song Contests thread (Song Of The Month, etc) on the messageboard...when you enter those contests, you're guaranteed to get feedback (everyone who enters is supposed to vote/comment on all other songs entered).
Nice work, Dave. It IS a tough world, a dung--heap, as some have called it. But you kept it clean and stopped before anyone could actually get depressed about it. I liked it. I think for every praisey song there should be a reality tune, like this one. You have superb perspective.
The original got on my threepenny bits when I went with my family to Disneyland Paris, but this shows the bitterness of reality.
