An election year Merry Christmas
THE NIGHT B4 CHRISTMAS, 2016
Twas the night before voting, when all thru the land
All the people deciding, a woman or a man
The kids were all playing, those too young to vote
While parents some struggled playing fear against hope
The candidates they talked, they seemed everywhere
In hopes that they’d win pretty much fair and square
There were some surprises throughout the campaign
One debater was orange, it was seen very plain
With tons of money and a whole lot of tweet
He appealed very well to the man on the street
All thru the primaries the orange really flew
With his bag full of promises to win me and you
I stood shaking my head and turning all around
Not believing those promises, I fell to the ground
The orange talked juicy and that orange was plump
But he had a message he told well on the stump
He used plain language not politically correct
But it served him well he was not circumspect
He nailed the primaries as the others he hosed
Then he nailed the electors as he won by a nose
His tweets are still coming; there is strife in the world
While we lay in our beds all covered and curled
On this night before Christmas, though he was not my choice
Not to fear but to hope I strive to give voice
He’s down in Mar-a Lago and I’m a little uptight
But MERRY CHRISTMAS to all and to all a GOOD NIGHT !
