The Lyrics

I've noticed that the bigger a sporting event is (except for the Olympics) the more property damage there is. :-)
Who's that rioting through the streets
It's some mad fans of a pro-sports team
Bats and rocks and thrashin' hands
What's their problem? Their team lost
They all came to see
Their favorite team snag the win
You had best start to flee
'Cause their destruction begins

Sports Night Riot
Wreckin' the town, they don't care
Sports Night Riot
Turned over cars as anger flares

A short-fused path-tearin' mob of fans
The most savage group in any homeland
Block their path and you'll understand
Score displayed and then they ran
They all have lost their way
It's the playing they should love
Now all the cops know
They should be hovering above

Sports Night Riot
Stores will all be bare tonight
Sports Night Riot
Fans will be lootin' them all tonight
Gonna be a Sports Night Riot

Right on, Scathe! I really don't understand this senseless phenomena....555

"I've noticed that the bigger a sporting event is (except for the Olympics) the more property damage there is. :-)" . This must be a Murphy's Law, Scathe. If not you get credit for this as it seems very true. 5s.

And not just the pros, the idiots at my alma-mater trashed the campus and surrounding city several times after Terps/Duke games. A proud moment, I'm sure.

Great parody, I bought their greatest hits a few weeks ago, there's some great songs. Sort of a mix between Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Either way, great parody.

(SOTM) Oh yeah...I totally forgot about the OS. It's not half bad, actually. The parody is great, though.

(sotm05) Not bad...I like Weird Al's "Grapefruit Diet". Seems like a verse or a bridge is missing here somewhere.

(SOTM) Mob mentality means much mangling. 5's

(SOTM) Already voted and commented. I had wanted to parody this OS, but nothing was gelling. Again, nice job Scathe. As for your intro comment, perhaps you should start "Scathe's Laws".

(SOTM05) DKTOS, but a really good read.

It's not the size of the sporting event, it's the size of the beers sale in the city and stadium on the day of the event... :-)

I was all set to rave about the appearance of Cherry Poppin' Daddies in one of my favorite movies, "Swingers," but that was actually Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Silly me.

Nice one, Scathe. It's clear that sports is replacing religion as the reason to congregate on Sundays and worship larger-than-life beings. And to commit senseless acts of violence.

Good message and well delivered. But, did I miss it, or did Detroit Piston fans refrain from rioting?

(SOTM) And that's a perfect example of why the word "fan" is derived from the word "fanatic"!

(SOTM) Great job Scathe. I read this a second time picturing that Simpsons episode where a soccer riot breaks out (because the game was boring) and all of Springfield is looted and vandalized. Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway) this was a riot. Tri-Fives.
Arwen - June 28, 2005 - Report this comment
SOTM--see, Wyoming fans are generally already drunk by halftime...and therefore have no idea if we've lost at the end of the game...; ) Nice job, Scathe!
Stuart McArthur - June 29, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM)- nice work, Scathe - it's almost like sometimes they're hoping their team will lose, for the pseudo-excuse

Riot on, Scathe! You should have seen my high school chess team after a loss... scaaaary...

Funny stuff, Scathe. You kinda lost me with the 'hovering above' line. I'm still not sure why, but "What's their problem? Their team lost" just killed me. In the good, death-by-chocolate or death-by-crushed-pelvis kinda way.
